The duties of the secretary revolve around keeping records for the section, primarily taking notes during meetings and publishing the results to the Executive Committee. The main meetings that are covered are the monthly executive committee meeting, semi-annual lunch meetings, and financial audit meetings. The secretary also is required to sign off on financial reports along with the Treasurer and Section chair before they are submitted to National.
Overall this is not a bad gig, as Secretary I am involved in most of the section activities and get an insider’s view of everything that goes on with the section. It also gives an interesting view of the National organization and the overall picture of quality in the world. The time commit is only about 2 Hrs/month, plus audits & semi-annual meetings, which is a small price to pay for the 2 RUs you get each year.
