Dear ASQ-0704 members,
For our meeting this month, March 8, 6pm – 8pm (Edward Jones Training Center, 8333 S River Parkway, Tempe), we have Robert Woods from the State of Arizona’s Government Transformation office (GTO). Robert will be sharing the continuous improvement and Lean activities that Arizona is undertaking. This should be interesting to see how the tools and processes we have been using in our own businesses are being applied at the state government level. I look forward to seeing you there.
Following discussions with our Section 0704 Executive Committee we would like to make an effort this year to inform members of the benefits and opportunities within ASQ. Each month we plan to review a topic or two to help you as members know what is available and how ASQ can help grow your career. Besides access to the ASQ Body of Knowledge (BOK) and discounts to events and materials, we will cover Section website updates and links, member status, ASQ certifications, and other benefit upgrades. In addition, there have been and will be a few changes from ASQ we want to keep you informed about.
To start with, one benefit of section meeting attendance is increased Recertification Units (RU) over events of other groups. As of this year the RU credit for attendance at ASQ meetings and clinics has been raised 67% to 0.50 credits for each activity. You will note that receipts will now reflect this increase. This makes for a great chance to earn recertification credits (RUs) even faster.
Later this year ASQ’s online communities will be replaced with myASQ a new online community of practice designed to offer an enhanced member benefit, a personalized experience, and the ability to belong to, and connect with, an exclusive group of quality professionals. myASQ provides the platform and opportunity to centralize ASQ community offerings in one location to improve the member and customer experience.
We look forward to seeing you,
Dave Gibson – Chair ASQ-0704, Valley of the Sun.
