Feb 2019 Chair’s Message

Dear ASQ-0704 members,

Hopefully your new year is off to a good start.  As our Section year starts to roll we look forward to bringing you the items you are looking for from your local ASQ peers.  Our Team is pulling together a strong list of speakers and topics. We may even attempt a company tour or special event outside of our traditional classroom format.  As we have noted we will continue to provide programs through our on-line format allowing more of our members to participate.  Please check out the link in the program section below if you are interested.

Speaking of programs, I would like to welcome Jim Steele to our Executive Committee as Program Chair. Jim has a good team behind him to provide the types of information you have asked for.

Last month we had a team of judges once again participate in the Future Cities award, the STEM competition for middle school students to show their skills in future vision. Our team of Deepa, Jim and Will evaluated and awarded the best use of Quality in the entries provided. Congratulations to the leading team and we look forward to seeing  the team that was awarded our recognition at a future Section meeting.  A full review of our team’s view of the process is covered in the Sun Dial newsletter.

The Program meeting topic for February will be “Manufacturing Resources for Arizona Companies”, presented by David Garafano of the Arizona Manufacturing Extension Partnership. This should be a great opportunity to understand what is available in Arizona to work through those business challenges that tend to come along.

Finally, get ready for the ASQ Lean & Six Sigma Conference that is coming to Phoenix on March 4 & 5.  Many of our team will be there to help process the conference and support a table promoting our products and services. We look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,

Dave Gibson – Chair, ASQ-0704 “Valley of the Sun”.
