TOPIC:  Quality – Make No Mistake About It


This entertaining talk will focus on and provide examples of 

Mistake-proofing (or Poka-Yoke) in several different areas. 

Pokayoke is a technique for avoiding simple human error in the workplace. Also known as mistake-proofing, goof-proofing, and fail-safe work methods, pokayoke is simply a system designed to prevent inadvertent errors made by workers performing a process.

This spirited presentation enlists examples of mistake-proofing in daily life with an emphasis on the use – and misuse – of VISUALS and their impact on Safety and safe operating conditions. We will explore the 3 functions of poka-yoke and the top 10 causes leading to a possible error, as well as common operating factors that may led to mistakes.

So, whether you adopt A3, DMAIC, PDCA, KATA, K-T or 8D, and you are interested in making sure problems are fixed and stay fixed, do not miss this presentation! It will be a fun evening.

After 40 years, Jay is a retired operations excellence and quality advocate. He is a local pioneer of lean and six sigma training materials and their subsequent development and application in government, business and industry.
